Sober Companioning
In early recovery, there are many triggers that one might experience once leaving treatment, which leave room for the potential to relapse. Facing these triggers and difficult situations can be challenging for a newly sober person to face alone. Both research and anecdotal information show that a higher percentage of people who continue to remain actively involved in the recovery community have a greater likelihood of maintaining their sober lifestyle. Seasons offers an additional support system by providing one-on-one sober companions, both on discharge from treatment or even if a client needs to leave our Malibu rehabs campus for a short amount of time. A sober companion offers various solutions in getting acclimated outside of treatment. Sober companions have the ability to assist clients in getting adjusted to their sober lifestyle through introductions to 12-Step meetings and fellowships in your area and building a network of abstinent peers. This encouragement and support is also helpful when a client leaves treatment and is returning to their previous environment, an environment sure to be full of triggers and any pending issues that have yet to be resolved. Sober companions provide assistance and guidance through experience and are able to help you achieve your goals during your transition, with the reminders and applications of the tools learned during treatment. It has been shown time and again that the use of sober companions can strongly contribute to working through daily challenges with a positive outcome, always keeping the main goals of recovery-related decisions and ultimately abstinence.
